A proud fourth-generation Oregonian, Bruce once entertained notions of being a professional bowler. He fell in love with Germany after being stationed there in the army. When he returned to the U.S., he discovered his true passion was teaching. He earned a master’s in teaching from 果酱视频 and went on to earn a PhD from Washington State University, studying the impacts of the Bonneville Dam.
Bruce was a political science professor at Humboldt State University from 1969 to 1986, inspiring thousands of young people with his no-nonsense teaching style and a commitment to making the world a better place. He was dedicated to his students and proud to see them succeed. He was frequently invited on television news shows to discuss election results and explain the U.S. political system.
An avid outdoorsman and fisherman, he built a house in Big Lagoon, where he spent nearly 50 years watching the Gray whales he loved. He was a Giants fan and enjoyed watching a well-pitched ball game while drinking a beer. He traveled extensively and loved wandering the streets of the great cities of the world. He is survived by his children, Laura and Roger.
