In Times of Crisis, the ¹û½´ÊÓƵ Community Steps Up

In times of crisis, our strengths come into sharp focus.

To help ¹û½´ÊÓƵ provide a transformative liberal arts education, more than 5,000 alumni, parents, and friends came together to commit over $30 million in fiscal year 2019-20, a level of support that hasn’t been seen since 2012, which marked the end of the Centennial Campaign. These figures include $4.6 million in gifts to the Annual Fund, which is one of the critical elements that has allowed ¹û½´ÊÓƵ to respond forcefully to COVID-19.

With your help, we found ways to remain steadfast in our dedication to our highest ideals while adapting to meet goals and care for one another along the way. Some examples:

DIGITAL LEARNING
  • ¹û½´ÊÓƵ’s Computing & Information Services staff helped faculty reimagine the format of their courses and move approximately 400 classes online, providing guidance on accessibility, live class sessions, and recording, editing, and sharing lectures.
  • The Center for Teaching and Learning orchestrated peer-to-peer sharing of best practices for online instruction.
LIFE BEYOND REED
  • The Center for Life Beyond ¹û½´ÊÓƵ reached more than 200 students through online appointments and virtual drop-in sessions and connected the entire class of 2020 to the ¹û½´ÊÓƵ alumni network.
