National Science Foundation Grant Awarded to Chemistry Professor
Prof. Julie Fry wins a second major grant this year.
Prof. Julie Fry [chemistry and environmental studies 2008–] has won a $163,000 grant from the the National Science Foundation program for a three-year collaborative project. Partnering with Prof. James Smith at UC Irvine, Fry will undertake a project titled "Collaborative Research: Atmospheric Nanoparticle Growth from NO3 Radical Initiated Oxidation of Monoterpenes." The total award amount for both ¹û½´ÊÓƵ and Irvine is $622,000.
This is the second grant that Fry has been awarded this academic year. In August 2017, she received a $60k Teacher-Scholar from the Camille & Henry Dreyfus Foundation for her committed work with undergraduate students.
Fry is also a principal in a research collaboration that was recently awarded $466,276 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. She and her team of collaborators at the Oregon DEQ and Portland State University will study diesel exhaust and the public health impacts of diesel emissions in the region, with particular attention to the potentially significant adverse exposure effects for vulnerable populations.
